BILLING AND DISCONNECT NOTICES
BILLS DUE – Bills for electric service are mailed the first week of each month and you have sixteen (16) days after the billing date to pay your amount due to Big Country Electric Cooperative. If the due date falls on a holiday or weekend, then the bill is due on the next workday following the weekend or holiday.
DELINQUENT NOTICE – If BCEC does not receive your payment by the due date, a 5% penalty is added to the bill amount. A Reminder Notice is then mailed, alerting you the bill is past due. You have ten (10) additional days to either pay the bill or make arrangements for payment.
PHONE CONTACT – As a courtesy if payment is not made, BCEC will attempt to contact you by phone to make payment arrangements before the account is disconnected.
RECONNECT – To reconnect your meter, a deposit amount equal to 1/6 of the past 12 months’ payments will be required if no deposit is on hand. Two $50 Trip Fees will apply; one for disconnection and one to reconnect.
PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS – No one likes a disconnect notice. At Big Country Electric Cooperative, we work with members to arrange a payment schedule that fits your current financial situation. If you are having trouble paying your electric bill, please contact us. Reconnect fees can be avoided by calling the office and making payment arrangements.
In addition to cash payment arrangements, BCEC offers Bank Draft, Automatic Credit Card, and Budget Billing (or Average Billing) Options. See the Payment Options section for more information, or contact any BCEC office.
